An anti-AI argument I keep seeing is "If AI makes everyone so much more productive, why aren't we seeing a lot more new software products out there?" as if that's the only value-add that matters. I think what annoys me most about that argument is that, in order to have a lot of new software products, _humans_ would have to think up those new products, even if AI builds them!

As for "productivity" in general, if we're only seeing the _code_ part of software accelerated, even if it is 10x faster, that's still only a (small) part of the overall product/feature cycle and there are lots of ways that we could apply AI, that we're still only just starting to figure out. I like that you've called out a lot more ways in this article than we normally see in most discussions out there about potential value-add.
